Two months ago I read “Eleven minutes” by Paulo Coelho and I really enjoyed it. The book is published in 2003 but I though that the it is not enough interesting to read. One day I was sitting in my library at home and I saw the book on the shell, somehow it gained my attention and I decided to read the summary on the back of the book. When I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I read it for a day. I wanted to read it again and again.
Actually I liked many things about the book. I really enjoyed the style of the writer. He uses vulgar words and expressions which makes the story more real and engaging for an 18-years old teenager. He says everything in a straight way which makes the story easily to follow. Another thing that I really liked about the book is that the novel talks about important themes of our lives. The main character is a prostitute in a foreign country, far away from her family. The conditions are forcing her to do this. She is young and scared and as many people has to deal with her problems alone. Many people can see themselves in her character. Many people have to live outside of their homes in order to succeed and have a better life. While the main character is working, she talks about her feelings and emotions and she describes all of these in a diary. The most common theme is about loneliness. While I was reading the book, I was really lonely. I didn’t want to go out and see my friends, and when I was around people I was still feeling alone. So the theme of the book is really common. I think that the progress of the topic is helpful for the readers that feel the same way. On some points I though I’m there, it was so realistic. Actually the book is trying to show that you have to be who you are and follow your dreams whenever it takes you: even if you have to be a prostitute.
The story of the book is actually real and this makes it even stronger for me, because I know that it is normal to feel lonely sometimes, its normal your life to be hard for you and it’s normal for you to desire something more, and do everything to get it. So my advice is read the book, you are going to enjoy it.
